OHS student helps people understand 'intellectual disabilities'

David Thompson, an OHS junior who is autistic, spoke to classmates last Wednesday about ending the use of the “R-word” as part of a Special Olympics Wisconsin campaign. Below, a student signs a poster to vow not to say the word.
David Thompson plays four sports competitively. He’s also an activist who meets politicians and gives speeches – including one last week to about 30 people at Oregon High School.

An Oregon parent even called the Observer recently to rave about his public speaking skills.

One could infer the OHS junior would have accumulated a bunch of friends by now, but that hasn’t been the case.

Boys golf UPDATE: Panthers jump to fourth in Badger South

With a 2-4 dual meet record, the Oregon boys golf team needed a nice round and a little help if they wanted to move up in the standings Wednesday at the Badger South meet.

A score of 335 did just that as the Panthers finished fourth overall at the meet and gained the points necessary to jump Milton (337, 2-4) and Monona Grove (337, 3-3) in the Badger South standings.
